A Shadow On The Water
The quaint village of Schindelbrücke (Shalebridge) nestles in the valley floor, protected from the worst of the Brücksvald’s harsh weather and almost hidden from the Drakwald’s wildness by a granite outcropping that all but shields it from view. It is connected to it’s nearest neighbour Steinbrücke (Stonebridge) by a winding forest track that meanders through some treacherous hill country. Locals seldom take this road alone, and never after nightfall.
There is a far easier direct river route which, as one might imagine, handles the majority of traffic between the settlements. Trade and commerce is mostly handled by it’s small jetty and market green which is adjacent to the bridge from which it takes it’s name.
